TREE PLANTING GH-VOLU 11.2 12/06 – 03/07/09 25

WORK / PROJECT: Volunteers will be concentrating their energies and time on planting of trees in some designated areas of the Longo community. Meticulously, attention will be paid to the principal streets of the town in the process of the project. Trees will be planted along major streets and public parks to increase and conserve the greenery nature of the community. The trees to be planted are by and large to serve as wind breaks in attempt of finding lasting solution to the frequent incidence of disasters as consequences of wind-storms which constantly resulted in ripping-off of school buildings and homes rendering the inhabitants homeless.

Arrangements have been concluded with the administrative authorities for the provision of tree seedlings, tools and relevant equipment for successful implementation of the project. The indigenes and the local authorities pledge their maximum supports and co-operations to the volunteers to coherently and tirelessly work hand- in-hand with the volunteers to ensure achievement of the project objective.

LOCATION: Longo is a small community of about 3,000 inhabitants living together in peace and tranquillity for many years. The people are very friendly and hospitable to all manner of people they found within the territories of Longo. Predominantly, the people are farmers in livestock and animal husbandry.
