The people of Japandu being Ashantis celebrate the Adae festival. ADAE is a festival for the purification of the ancestral stools of the Ashantis and is being celebrated every 40th day of the month. It is more vivacious if the day falls on a Sunday. There are a lot of tourist attractions dotted across the region; these include the famous Lake Bosomtwe, which is the largest natural lake in West Africa, Palace of the great Ahanti King, Bonwire and Ntosu Kente villages, Okomfo Anokye Sword and many others.

Due to unavailability of electricity at Japandu, hurricane lamps will be the main source of light during the work camp. The main source of drinking water will be from a bore hole. From the worksite to the housing area is a walking distance (200m away). Health facilities and post office are in the adjoining villages. Ingredients needed for preparation of meals in feeding of volunteers will be purchase made readily available from the local market. Volunteers will therefore share the duties of cooking on a rotational basis.

LANGUAGE: English language will be the main medium of communication used but high proficiency will not be a requirement.

PARTICIPATION: Volunteers participating in this workcamp project will be required to pay a participation fee of 250 Euros towards the upkeep of the volunteer and organizational works for the smooth running of the project among other financial obligations but additional 150 Euros shall be charged for any other project.

SPECIAL REMARK: Basic facilities such as pipe borne water, electricity, water closet, forex bureau, internet facility and public phones are not available in this community being a village setting. Volunteers are therefore advised to change their monies either in Accra or Kumasi. Health facilities can be accessed from nearby towns as such Kuntanase which is very close to the project community. It is being required of all partakers of this camp to arrive in the country at least three (3) prior to the launch of the camp to enable involve in an orientation/sensitization programme outline to prepare the volunteers for tasks ahead.

Vehicle could be organized or arranged for the volunteers to travel as a group should they all arrive within the aforementioned timeframe.
