ACTIVITIES

MANUAL WORK PROGRAMMES

These are activities that involve manual labours, directed towards rural development such as building of classrooms, market stalls, health Centre, housing scheme, ventilated improved toilets, community centre, youth training centre, roads and drainage system and digging of wells. Also included are tree planting and agro-forestry projects; environmental education and agricultural projects such as cocoa and coffee plantations, oil palm plantation, clearing of farmlands, transplanting seedlings and harvesting of crops.

SOCIAL SERVICE PROGRAMMES

Involve work with institutions that cater for orphans and people with physical and mental disabilities. As well as assisting with the provision of care, volunteers help to maintain the grounds of the Centre. Another programme is carried out under the theme of ‘’literacy for development’’. Workcamps run literacy classes for those unable to read and write in the village where workcamps take place. Literacy must create some kind of awareness among people to make them act upon and transform their reality.

Organized for potential workcamp and project leaders.

VOCATIONAL TRAINING

VOLU has established a Training Centre a Kordiabe comprising a hostel to house 50 to 100 trainees, 2 classrooms, workshop, poultry, offices and conference hall. The Centre will give skill training to the youth in agriculture, carpentry, masonry, blacksmithing, and dressmaking.
