2008 SUMMER CAMPS PROGRAMME

CAMP #03

LOCATION : Adidwan
DISTRICT : Sekyere East
REGION : Ashanti Region
TYPE OF CAMP : International
PROJECT : Construction of habit houses
PERIOD : 11th July – 1st August 2008

GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION
Camp site is located in the forest area which is expected to experience an increase in rainfall.

Ashanti Region is noted for its cultural activities, which include the famous Kente, Kumasi cultural Centre, Lake Bosumtwe, which is a natural Lake.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Volunteers will be joined by the local community to construct habitat houses, which is aimed at providing simple and cheaper accommodation for the people who have put themselves into corporative. Work will involve mixing of concrete, molding of block, laying of blocks, erection of walls etc.

FACILITIES
Accommodation :  Volunteers will sleep in school
Lighting             :  Electricity
Water               :  Pipe borne water

DIRECTION
All foreign volunteers will be picked from the KOTOKA INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT by accredited persons and sent to the VOLU Hostel. Briefing of volunteers takes place on a day before their departure to the camps. All monies are paid at the secretariat only and not to any person anywhere.

NB

1. Participation fee is 200 Euros for one camp and 300 Euros for two (2) camps.

2. All foreign volunteers should report at the VOLU Secretariat for payment of participation fee and direction to camp site.

Inform us of your arrival date, time and flight number to enable us pick you up from the airport.

3. Please, arrange for VISA from your country before you enter Ghana.

4. Volunteers should please come through partner organizations.
