2008 SUMMER CAMPS PROGRAMME

CAMP #01

LOCATION : Gyankufa
DISTRICT : Jaaman
REGION : Brong Ahafo

GEOGRAPHICAL LOCATION
Camp area is geographically located in the middle belt of Ghana, which is a forest zone. It is going to be rainy around this period so volunteers should bring raincoats and boots.Some tourist attractions in the region include Monkey sanctuary at Fiama, and water falls at Kintampo.

DESCRIPTION OF WORK
Volunteers will be joined by the local community to brush weeds on the VOLU / Community afforestation project. Dead and diseased branches will also be pruned. New seedlings will be planted in order to extend plantation size.

FACILITIES
Accommodation :  Volunteers will sleep in a school block
Lighting             :  Lanterns/ candles
Water               :   Bore hole

Since work shall mainly involve brushing of weeds in the field, volunteers are asked to bring suitable working boots and rain coats since it may be raining during that period.  Planning of camp activities is done at the camp to suit particular environment.

NB

1. Participation fee is 200 Euros for one camp and 300 Euros for two (2) camps.

2. All foreign volunteers should report at the VOLU Secretariat for payment of participation fee and direction to camp site.

Inform us of your arrival date, time and flight number to enable us pick you up from the airport.

3. Please, arrange for VISA from your country before you enter Ghana.

4. Volunteers should please come through partner organizations.
